Minuteman tip to Cal Trans leads to its closure
The Laguna Beach Day Labor Center has been the object of numerous demonstrations over the last two years. That might be comming to an end. The California Department of Transportation has ordered that the Laguna Beach Day Labor Center immediatly vacate the premises or face forced eviction.
When the Laguna Beach City Council originally authorized the consruction of the Day Labor Center Several Years ago, they neglected to check to see who actually owned the property.
The story is set to be in Tommorrows LA times
An unnamed member of the Minuteman Project checked the County records and found that the property generously donated by the City of laguna Beach was actually owned by the California Department of Transportation. State law prohibits Cal Trans property to be used for anything except infrastructure support. Cal Trans may soon iniatiate eviction procedings.
