Dear Mr. President,
You have dragged our good name and this nation kicking and screaming through the shifting sands of Arabia, and for what, might I ask?
I'll tell you what it has gotten us, Mr. President, no cheap gas at the pump, no peace, no security; nothing but pain, grief, and shame.
Is that what we're fighting for in Iraq, and elsewhere?
To look like pariahs in the eyes of Iraqis and the world?
Flagrant torturers of human beings?
Shredders of international laws and treaties?
Mr. President, your administration has lied to us, and continuously frightened us to abdicate our civil and human rights for an ethereal security. You have divided the world into those "with us" and those "against us", and now it seems our "with us" camp is emptying fast, while those "against us" are gaining in numbers.
The situation we find ourselves in is untenable and is harming, not only our nation, but the very fabric of our world. We were showered with good will the world over after 9/11, and your administration skillfully squandered that to the four winds of arrogance, ignorance, lies and shame. How could you Mr. President?
I want my children and their peers to live in a world where America is viewed as a fair and law abiding nation amongst others in this world. I want my children and those all over the world to have a chance and the opportunity at a better life, a life devoid of violence and hunger.
Those are the things I expect my government to be spearheading, not drives to war, destruction, mayhem, and wasteful corrupt spending that burdens the future of my children. I expect my government to use lawful, and honest diplomacy in all its foreign affairs dealings. I expect my government to abide by international treaties we are signatory to. I expect my government to be a representative government to all its citizens, to respect and protect our rights. I want my government to acknowledge mistakes and correct course when necessary. When my government is not responsive to these needs, then, surely, it ought to be booted.
Can you deliver Mr. President?
