Midnight Special is a social & cultural bookstore presenting books & ideas to change the world. For almost 30 years the Midnight Special has served the local and global community as a resource for information and guidance during times when access to information has been either blocked or filtered through a corporate controlled media.
Midnight Special started as a cooperative in a small space in Venice, California. Through community involvement and tireless staff and vollunteers the store has evolved into a cultural and political oasis in Los Angeles. Independent booksellers are quickly disappearing and being replaced by the mega-chains. We implore you to support the independent businesses that shape and define the communities in which they have thrived for so long. As the mega-chains encroach further into our communities, devouring the independents, our choices become increasingly limited.
Can somebody list all the independent bookstores in Los Angeles? THANK YOU!
Midnight Special Bookstore was the best Independent bookstore in Los Angeles. What is the second best bookstore?
Now there is practically no reason to go to Third Street in Santa Monica. It has become a tourist-only zone. Except for low-wage workers and homeless kids running and hiding from the cops, that is.
i attended this event and found it to be filled with white, yuppie, priviledge snobs that just simply don't get it!
Flor Y Canto which is an awesome independent bookstore and hangout that is non-profit.
30% off sale at MS Books right now. We'll never forget that place.
Are they still around? I got a few books there. They were located next to the cafe, on the south side of Macarthur Park.
You could fertilize all of the farmland in the US with THAT one. Nice try, dipshit.
