Midnight Special is a social & cultural bookstore presenting books & ideas to change the world. For almost 30 years the Midnight Special has served the local and global community as a resource for information and guidance during times when access to information has been either blocked or filtered through a corporate controlled media.

Midnight Special started as a cooperative in a small space in Venice, California. Through community involvement and tireless staff and vollunteers the store has evolved into a cultural and political oasis in Los Angeles. Independent booksellers are quickly disappearing and being replaced by the mega-chains. We implore you to support the independent businesses that shape and define the communities in which they have thrived for so long. As the mega-chains encroach further into our communities, devouring the independents, our choices become increasingly limited.
