Energy Independence

Request to increase hydroelectric power instead of imported oil.

MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE. ENERGY INDEPENDENCE. MALC0124 by ericmatteson2003november@hotmail.com Episode of Malcolm In the Middle. Energy Independence. Malcolm has to do another report for school. Political candidates have been saying that we need a moon mission right here on Earth to develop energy independence. The solution that I am proposing is for American Voters to require the U.S. congress to build new hydroelectric dams and improve exsisting hydroelctric dams by increasing the number of turbines and generators. I have questions about every major river in the United States . Is there still unregulated river FLOODING during the rainy season ?? Is the flow at the bottom of every dam at about the same altitude as the resevoir of the next downstream dam ?? The previous questions can help point to locations for new dams. In every exsisting hydroelectric dam does all of the water flowing through that dam flow through hydroelectric turbines on its way through the dam all year arround or is there water wasted by flowing over a spillway at least during the rainy season ?? Every hydroelectric dam deserves to have enough turbines and generators added so that water will not have to be wasted by flowing over the spillway even during the rainy season. Even part time additional power is better that wasting water by dumping it over a spillway. Some turbines and generators are over a hundred years old. Is every old hydroelectric turbine and old generator with rusty core pieces and cracked insulation and worn out brushes and slip rings and commutators at least 95 per cent as efficient as a new hydroelectric turbine and generator would be ?? Hydroelectric power is a non-polluting renewable energy source that is renewed every rainy season. The fossil fuels will all soon run out so hydroelectric power is the only reliable source of electricity that can help future generations recieve power. Please require congress to improve exsisting hydroelectric dams and construct additional hydroelectric dams instead of requiring young men to register to be drafted into combat to fight for foreign fossil fuels that will run out very soon anyway. FIVEPHASE124 Episode Stargate SG1. The Tokrah come through the stargate. They bring over a small generator. Oneil notices it has five phases instead of 3. Then the Tokrah guy says that a five phase A.C. power system is smoother than traditional 3 phase power. Then they go through the stargate to visit the Tokrah homeworld. Over there they have groups of five power lines on their power poles instead of groups of only 3 wires. Then Carter comments that the Northeastern U.S. is considering rewiring its power grid. The Tokrah guy reccommends using five phase power because it is smoother than 3 phase power. Emergency partial brownout performance is improved. On a 3 phase delta connection if one of the 3 phases opens up the remaining two wires only carry one phase and it is like trying to run a car on an enjine with only one remaining cylinder. There is an inherent unreliability in traditional 3 phase power grids. Five phase power grids will provide a higher reliability network. The Tokrah people use hydroelectric power as the only source of power. Every river has dams from the mountain snowpacks to the oceans on the Tokrah homeworld. The hydroelectric dams improve the environment. The resevoirs provide year round fresh water for fresh water fish that otherwise would be dry in the summer and fall. ......
