One day my friends and i were skating on the side walk downtown mostly watching the bikers bunny hop down staires and grind the rails ne way we were riding home and some one yelled at us "Hey kids come here and ill give u a sponsership!" we obviously came and he locked the doors and called the police he set us up and he bribed us with sponsor ship when the police came they took us home in their squad cars and we passed the bikers the police stopped and said "hey be careful" they didnt even do any thing to them that was un fair.

I dont think a skateboarder intentionally runs you off of the sidewalk. iT is really hard for us to get out of the way and not harm anybody. There is alot of things we cannot do and we get harassed by the cops every time they see us on our boards. Skating has been around for a long time and it is a hobby of mine and other fellow skaters. I dont see how people can try to take away the things we love. I know a lot of skaters. That is mostly of what my friends consist of but any way we are not punks or bad kids as people would take us to be. We arent out at partys doing drugs if we are out skating. That is our pass time and it should be able to keep us out of trouble but now the law is getting into it. I dont understand.

they are using the urban landscape in a way that nobody else does, they are getting enjoyment out of a few steps and a ledge!!!! whats the problem with that? so they get in your way on the street? unlike people with prams or on bikes? and perhaps they damage some property but in all fairness its minor damage that was caused from enjoyment, exercise, fun and friendship!

And Skaetboarding should have never become a crime. Pesonally, I have never skateboarded. But, my older brother, made his first skateboard, by nailing the steel wheels from a rollerskate to a piece of 2x4. Actully, this was an evolution of sorts from the old scooter, that was a wooden crate, with a wooden handlebar, nailed to a 2x4, with parts of a rollerskate on the bottom. At some time the crate separated from a boy's scooter, leaving him on the "skate board". That was back in the mid-1960's, so, you can see how far technology and the spirit of iventiveness, can bring a sport.

Fast Foward to the present.

Over time the modern boards were built, and skaters kept comming into the sport. That is not the problem.

The problems, came as property owners, kept suffering damages to their property, or personal injury lawsuits for injuries, to people using their property.

Property owners are involved in government, vote and attend city council meetings.

As I said above, "skateboarding is not a crime", but some skateborders damage property, tresspass, get injured, and perform unsafe acts. Play by the rules set by the city and and learn to win the game.

Look, if you are young, and fearless, play football, and you'll get slammed, and might be lucky to snap your spine or break a bone. If you are not so inclined to atheletics, ask the head coach if he needs a manager on the sidelines, or join the school newspaper and take photos.
