We all need to organize for a HUGE October 22nd Anti-Police Brutality Demonstration in LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. October 22nd is the national day of protest against police brutality, and in light of the recent police state in Long Beach, it is absolutely necessary that the largest Oct 22nd protest in the country be held there. Contact orangebloc@hotmail.com for more information. We are looking for sponsors and people/groups who can contribute monetarily. We also are looking for local organizers. If you can even bring 5 people to this event, contact us, and let us know. We will network and organize with you.
This demonstration needs to be HUGE. We are planning on having over 10,000 people present, so get your people to come.
I feel you on the the recent brutality expressed by the Long Beach pigs. While I do believe that we need to expose them as the brutal pigs that they are, I also think it might be a good idea to get in contact with the October 22nd coalition before decided to organize the march in a different location. Part of the unity of the coalition is to unite with the families of victims of police murder. This is extremely important to the cause and would not be an O22 march without them. Check out their website, get in contact with the coalition, and try to attend a few meetings.

Last year there was a large Octoer 22 Coalition demo in LA with about 1000 people, and there was one in Anaheim organized by several different community organizations with about 100 people. My own opinion is that it is important to work with the October 22 Coalition, not necessarially on planning the demo, but on networking and stuff like that.
the October 22 Coalition has the connections to inform and draw many people. However it is also important to demonstrate police violence in the communities where it happens. If the October 22 Coalition is working on another location, why not plan a demo in conjuction with O22 for another date? By the time O22 comes around, many who weren't at LB on May Day may have forgotten what happened. Why not plan something sooner when outrage is at its height?
