I am concerned about the content of the Indymedia.org web site. I was at the Seattle protest and followed events through the web site when not on the streets. Throughout the approximately 3 weeks that I was keyed upon the event I lodged repeated complaints about both lack of coverage and distorted coverage. I am concerned that the same pattern appears to be occurring again.
During WTO we had to endure the repeated prominent postings by the "unorganized militia" advocating property damage. Now we have weird postings about the American people wanting to kill off the disfigured.
In WTO there was no way to post anything to the indymedia site that I could discover. I don't know how the content was selected, but - very clearly - there is a problem here. We want and need better coverage both of the events on the street and in the courts, etc., and the specific issues which is bringing us together in this growing movement.
The root of la.indymedia.org (indymedia.org) indicates that the site is controlled by the same people as during the WTO. Is this control a mystery? Is there any accountability here?
