In solidarity with the people of Oaxaca and
Mal de Ojo T.V. the Los Angeles Independent Media Center is pleased to present Compromiso Cumplido, True to my Pledge. Compromiso Cumplido is the first of a two-part documentary about the human rights violations during the current conflict in Oaxaca. The flim documents some of the horrors committed against the civil society of Oaxaca, and shows the strategy of state terrorism employed by the local governor. To date 25 known deaths have been reported, and yet there have been no criminal accusations or investigations for these murders. The film screening is Thursday, June 14th, 2007 at 7:30 pm at Sabor y Cultura cafe located at 5625 Hollywood Blvd.

This month marks the one year anniversary of the brutal and violent eviction of the South Central Farmers. Every first Sunday of the month the farmers gather for a farmer's market in the streets outside the site where they once cultivated the land.
The 13th of June will mark one year since the City of Los Angeles broke the hearts of thousands in Los Angeles. Farmers and friends of the farm will gather from 6pm to 8pm on the 13th outside of the farm at Alameda and 41st in vigil and reflection.

June 3, 2007 - TRANS-UNITY PRIDE is an annual multi-cultural, substance free celebration of the Southern California regional transgender community: trans-sexual, transgender, gender-queer, and cross-dressing individuals, and those who love and care for them. Participants come together for a day of educational workshops, discussion groups, entertainment, art, music, refreshments and relaxation.
Trans-Unity began in 2000, and is the largest annual celebration gathering of the transgender community in the country. Over the last SEVEN years: Attendance has grown each year; more than 500 people attended in 2003 and more than 2,000 transgender individuals and friends have attended over the last four years. Numerous workshops have been conducted such as Its Time to Learn About Being Transgender, Transgender and Gender-queer People and the Law, and Transgender Images in the Media.
