Fascism's reemergence in Europe

Ukraine

Nazism's Reemergence in Europe

by Stephen Lendman

Previous articles discussed it. This writer's edited and contributed to book titled Flashpoint in Ukraine: How the US Drive for Hegemony Threatens World War III highlights it.

Overt Nazis hold real power in Europe's heartland for the first time since WW II. Threatening Ukrainians. The entire continent. Eurasia. Perhaps beyond.

Russia's Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights Konstantin Dolgov expressed concern saying:

"There is no doubt that if there is no adequate reaction to the raging neo-Nazism in Ukraine, and so far there is no such reaction, this infection would spread over the Ukrainian borders and spread to other countries in Europe and beyond."

He commented in response to America, Canada and Ukraine voting against a UN resolution condemning the glorification of Nazism.

Effectively endorsing racist-driven crimes. Extremist ideologies and agendas. In November, Russia submitted the draft resolution. Its Foreign Ministry said:

"The fact that the US, Canada and Ukraine voted against, while delegations from EU member states abstained in the vote on this draft resolution, which was supported by an overwhelming majority of the UN member states, is extremely regrettable."

"Ukraine's position is particularly dispiriting and alarming. One can hardly understand how a country, the people of which suffered their full share of the horrors of Nazism and contributed significantly to our common victory against it, can vote against a resolution condemning its glorification."

The measure passed overwhelmingly - 115 to three. With 55 nations abstaining. Many bullied by Washington to do so.

Dolgov called Ukraine's no vote an endorsement of Nazism's reemergence in Ukraine. Russia is justifiably "upset and alarmed."

Especially given evidence of grave human rights abuses committed by Ukraine's government. As well as by extremist groups.

In November, Russia's Supreme Court endorsed a Prosecutor General's Office lawsuit recognizing neo-Nazi groups as extremist.

Including the Right Sector, UNA-UNSO. The Ukrainian Insurgent Army UPA. Ukrainian People's Self-Defense. Stepan Bandera Trident.

Banning their activities in Russia. Their propaganda espousing extremist ideology. Separately, some Russian lawmakers want these groups held accountable in the International Criminal Court.

RT International reports on what media scoundrels suppress. Ignore. Pretend doesn't exist. Including The New York Times.

Pretending Ukraine is a functioning democracy. Ignoring its coup d'etat government. Washington's dirty hands installing it.

Cynically burying hard truths. Supporting what demands denunciation. Longstanding Times practice. Mocking responsible journalism.

On January 6, RT headlined "Right Sector refuses to obey Ukraine's Defense Ministry - presidential aide."

Quoting illegitimate oligarch president Petro Poroshenko aide Yury Biryukov saying:

"I personnally proposed a full legal clearance scheme to Right Sector." Including a number of options. Involving defense ministry contract service.

"They turned down this service," said Biryukov. Armed forces require "discipline, order, subordination and central command."

Paramilitaries wanting legal autonomy subordinate to no one amounts to "science fiction."

In November, Biryukov said Right Sector elements would get legal status as an armed forces unit. No confirmation followed.

Openly fascist Dmitry Yarosh heads the Right Sector. Earlier he said he'll "be fighting Jews and Russians till I die."

He calls Russia Ukraine's "eternal foe." War between both countries is inevitable, he said.

He openly supports Chechen terrorists. Backed Georgia's 2008 aggression against South Ossetia.

He and likeminded extremists are the worst of rogue elements running things in Ukraine. Nazis in Europe's heartland. Cold-blooded killers.

Obama's new friends. Valued US allies. Washington bears full responsibility for elevating them to power.

Right Sector elements actively fight against Donbas freedom fighters. They bore full responsibility for May's Odessa massacre.

"In March 2014, the Russian Investigative Committee started criminal cases against several members of the radical Ukrainian groups over charges of fighting against the Russian military in the Chechen wars of the 1990s," reported RT.

"Right Sector’s Dmitry Yarosh also faced a separate criminal case over public calls for extremist activities."

They operate as de facto death squads. Actively involved in Maidan violence toppling President Viktor Yanukovych.

Responsible for atrocities and other human rights abuses. They're part of an alarming trend to replace historic monuments with Nazi symbols and glorificaton.

Their New Year's day Kiev torchlight march commemorating the 106th birthday of Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandara was chilling.

It reminded Czech President Milos Zerman of decades earlier Nazism. "There is something wrong with Ukraine," he said.

"Yesterday evening I was browsing the Internet and discovered a video showing the demonstration on Kiev's Maidan on January 1."

"These demonstrators carried portraits of Stepan Bandera, which reminded me of Reinhard Heydrich." Hitler's Czechoslovakia Reich-Protector.

"The parade itself was organized similar to Nazi torchlight parades, where participants shouted the slogan: ‘Death to the Poles, Jews and communists without mercy.' "

March participants shouted extremist enough slogans to chill anyone for peace and stability.

Including "Glory to the nation!" Death to enemies!" Ukraine belongs to Ukrainians." Bandera will return and restore order."

Nazi symbols were displayed. Including Bandera's red and black flag. Something is very wrong, Zerman stressed.

"…Bandera is considered a national hero. His image is hanging in the Maidan. His statue is in Lvov. (H)e was a mass murderer."

Russia condemns Nazism's reemergence in Europe's heartland. "Torchlit marches demonstrate that it is continuing to move along the (same) path" Nazis took, said Dolgov.

It's happening "in the center of civilized Europe." A cancer threatening its heartland. Eurasia. Maybe beyond.

Obama's new friends want fundamental freedoms eliminated. Complicit with Washington they risk direct confrontation with Russia. Possible nuclear war if not stopped.
