HAPPY TO BE BACK HOME AND OFF THE GRID!

This week's show features stories from Spanish National Radio, NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From SPAIN- The Spanish government has approved a controversial abortion law that rolls back the previous reform that had allowed abortion on demand up to 14 weeks into a pregnancy. Spain will be holding a meeting of Syrian opposition groups in January, prior to the proposed peace talks in Geneva. Edward Snowden released more lists of people and institutions targeted by the NSA and GQHQ.

From JAPAN- Protests in Thailand against the government have continued despite a proposed election in February. Air pollution in China has reached the worst level on the government’s scale. There are new leaks of radioactive water at the Fukushima nuclear reactors. The Japanese government will allow tests of cultivating rice in the Fukushima area to see how much radiation is absorbed by agricultural products. The Japanese Foreign Minister is pushing toward global nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.

From GERMANY- Japan's Prime Minister Abe made a controversial trip to the Yasukuni shrine for the war dead. In Egypt, 3 activists were sentenced to jail terms and the Muslim Brotherhood was officially declared a terrorist group. An investigative journalist in Ukraine was severely beaten. Israel made fresh air attacks on the Gaza Strip. Edward Snowden gave a major interview to the Guardian and gave a Christmas message on the BBC.

EDWARD SNOWDEN'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

From CUBA- Ecuador's President Correa warned that recent revelations about CIA's involvement in the fighting between the Colombian government and FARC rebels could threaten peace in the region. The Mexican President has signed a law formally opening the state controlled energy sector to foreign investment and oil drilling. In the Central African Republic people have taken to the streets protesting the French military intervention. An Irish political analyst says that the French intervention into the Central African Republic is of imperial interest.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

NEW TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)

"O take heart, my brothers. Even now... with every leader & every resource & every strategy of every nation on Earth arrayed against Her - Even now, O even now, my brothers, Life is in no danger of losing the argument! - For after all .... (as will be shown) She has only to change the subject."
