Anti-War events around Los Angeles on this 4th anniversary.
Students and adults vigiled and protested at military recruiting centers and other locations around Los Angeles. Students and adults near Dorsey High School vigiled out side the big MEPS center from 2:30 to 4pm. Students at UCLA, USC marched and rallyed at their recruiting centers. People vigiled in Whittier at the Army recruiting center at 6pm. In Boyle Heights about 200 hundred students and 50 adults. blocaded the recruiting center from 3 pm - 5:30.

vigil at Whittier Army recruiter's office There were nine of us in front of the Whittier military recruitment center this evening from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. AFSC droped off signs and t-shirts. It took a while, but the recruiters noticed us and came out. WAPJC has never targeted them before.
This kind of protest was new to the recruiters. They took photos of AFSC's t-shirt. One female recruiter had a conversation with Susan and Sheila. Many of the cars passing by honked in our favor. It must have been demoralizing for the recruiters to see so many drivers honking as they passed. by Scott Ratigan

Dorsey was interesting, but challenging. We were few, but mighty. We gave away every military recruiting facts brochure that we had.
The military knew we were coming, so they parked the young people across the street or around the corner and each recruit was escorted into the building.
Every kid coming out of the center was escorted by an officer as well.
Honestly, it felt like predatory animals protecting their prey. The kids were so young.
We should do a bigger action or a vigil at Dorsey in the future.
P.s. The police officer said he disagreed with the war too.
