Several thousand peace loving demonstrators followed the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Arun, through the streets of Hollywood in the inaugural Parade for Peace.
On his left is Congressional candidate, Cynthia Matthews, the only candidate invited to the event. Matthews, an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, is in a tightening race with Republican David Dreier, a key architect of Bush's agenda in the Congress. The 26th Congressional District is northeast of Los Angeles from LaCanada/Flintridge on the west to Rancho Cucamunga on the east and extends north through the San Bernadino Mts to Wrightwood. Recent polling shows Matthews within 3 points of incumbent Dreier.
Organized by KTLK's Harrison Blake of Harrison on the Edge, this parade is to begin a new era of peace activism.
