Today’s economy is tough for a new or small business, and the chance to succeed is made even tougher with competition from big corporations and government restrictions. Now Stewart Alexander, the Peace and Freedom Party Candidate for California Lieutenant Governor, wants to help small businesses get a head start.

Alexander wants to establish a small business assistance program designed to help small businesses. The program would mostly assist small business owners in the 2nd year of business ownership through the 5th year. The program would provide financial and marketing assistance, and tax relief.

Depending on the years in business, the business size, the financial and marketing plan, eligible businesses could receive financial assistance ranging from to 0 thousand. Qualifying businesses would also be required to be licensed, an active membership in one or more local chamber of commerce and a member of the Better Business Bureau.

The program would also encourage the public to support these businesses by providing local listings of these businesses online, by category, in each county. There would also be decal markers to identify these businesses to the public.

Alexander says, “Today, big government is only concerned about big businesses; however small businesses are necessary for a healthy economy. Big corporations are destroying the ability for most small businesses to compete and I believe our State leaders should provide small businesses a better chance to succeed.”

In the 90’s Stewart Alexander worked for the Diamond Bar Chamber of Commerce and the Pomona Chamber of Commerce and Alexander said in the 80’s and 90’s small businesses could turn a profit with just a good idea.

In 1999 Vicki Alexander, the wife of Stewart Alexander, wanted to start a house cleaning business. Vicki Alexander made a 0 investment and got a business license, cleaning supplies and business cards and built a cleaning service that provided jobs and grossed over ,000 monthly. In 2004 the State of California would no longer permit Vicki Alexander to subcontract workers and subsequently she was forced to close the business.

Alexander says, “California is not a friendly State for small businesses to conduct business and subsequently the State is losing 0’s of millions in revenues and sacrificing jobs by the tens of thousands. The Democratic Republican Party is not a party for small business owners; this party has a love affair with big businesses and are on-call for their money. I want to work with community and business leaders to provide some measure of assistance for small business owners by the end of 2007.

On a national level Alexander says the federal government needs to change over to a debit card system because the exchange of cash currency is fueling crime and is causing many small businesses and small retail outlets to become victims of violent crimes involving cash.
