Precinct walking and phone banking take place 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to identify the opponenets of Props 73 through 78 so we can push them to the polls during the Get Out The Vote (GOTV) weekend, 11/5-8. We need everyone now to stop this vicious attack on the workingclass, our school system, and every other advance in this society. A special election is always difficult for a workingclass victory because it is usually a low voter turnout election. We have to maximize our votes, and that is especially true in Southern California, where statewide elections are usually decided as 25 million of California's 36 million people reside. We have done it before and won, and we must do it again.
The food at labor campaign offices is always excellent and gets better, the closer to election day. The labor unions have a well-organized campaign with plenty of literature and well-selected precinct lists. You will have a chance to meet some of the best people on the phone and in person, at the phone banks or walking precincts. In the poorest neighborhoods, you will find the most solid, committed workingclass voters that confirm one's understanding that labor is certainly the foundation of any society.
On the California ballot, vote No on 73 through 78, yes on 79 and 80.
Your county ballot also has propositions which are worthy of consideration.
For California propositions, see:
http://www.calvoter.org/voter/elections/2005/special/props/index.html and
http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_j.htm and
http://www.betterca.com/ TODAY, NOW, EVERYONE, GET OUT AND CAMPAIGN. If you have not voted, vote absentee at your county registrar of voters, which is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Register as a permanent absentee voter so you receive the ballot at home in every election and can mail it immediately. Anyone can register as a permanent absentee voter.
