Alberto Gonzales: A Record Of Injustice

with

Judd Legum, Deputy Research Dir., American Progress Action Fund

As Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) said during John Ashcroft's nomination hearing "not only must the president trust the attorney general, the nation must also trust him, for, after all, the attorney general is America's lawyer." White House counsel Alberto Gonzales, President

Bush's new pick for Attorney General, is not a lawyer Americans can trust.

***********************************************************Wal-Mart: Template for 21st Century Capitalism

with Prof. Nelson Lichtenstein, labor historian

Wal-Mart is the nation's biggest employer. Just as giants of the past, like GM in the 1930's, it is setting the standards for American capitalism. Not

only do its low wages and working conditions set a dangerous pattern in the U.S., but its purchasing power enables Wal-Mart to dictate to its

manufacturing suppliers in the underdeveloped world who must ratchet down wages and working conditions to a bare minimum to court Wal-Mart purchases.
