think PEACE - speak PEACE - ACT Peace

We tried to STOP the WAR, you All must have thought the efforts could possibly BE successful? We Must believe and understand one person can make a difference! AND that MANY could make a HUGE Difference! SO We, who have 2 hands to write/work with and 2 feet to Move Forward with, don't WE OWE at Least a TRY, to HELP Our Fellow Americans who are not that Lucky and IN dangerous, difficult situations beyond their individual control? With regards to the external environment they find themselves stuck in, in additional to the body,mind,spirit damage they are suffering through.

Can't We, in any Capacity TRy to aid and assist the burdgeoning, honorable, exciting and Historic Movement to PROpel the Compelling Programs and Just Policies of the Kucinich for President campaign, which advocates Healing the Pain!

We know the Media, by omission and manipulation helped Sell this War. WHY Do Many still Believe the Media's Monotonous, Repetitous Reinforcement of ANYthing they Try to credibly report ON? Do you REALly think they are giving you the scoop on who is a frontrunner? on WHO IS electable? IF one is going to let media gatekeepers or money-lovers decide who is electable, you either don't understand democracy or don't BElieve in it. DO YOU THINK INSIDE THE IDIOT BOX? ...OR are you going to catch the Train of Thought and JOIn those who are thinKinG OUTside the BOX, especiALLY of Fox!

"Don't believe that a small, but committed # of People can change things, inDEED it is the only thing that ever HAS!" ~~~Margaret Sanger

" A new, SpiRiTuaLly based social ACTivism is beginning to assert itself. It stems NOT from hating what is wrong and trYING to fight it, but from LovYANG what could Be and making the commitment to bring IT Forth."

~Marianne Williamson~~Taken from "Healing the Soul of America: Reclaiming Our Voices as Spiritual CitiZenS"

Those of Us who sense a New World attempting to come to Fruition have a responsibility to Help it Be So. As professor Richard Tarnas has written, "He also reflects on our curious postmodern predicament at the end of the millennium. Today, he says, we find ourselves wandering disconsolately between two worlds, one dying, the other struggling to be born. On the one hand, the spiritual and intellectual certainties of the past no longer command our allegiance. On the other, the promises of a more integral worldview, a cosmology of tomorrow -- one based on a deeper relationship with nature and with the larger cosmos -- require of us a leap of faith few are ready to take. With the future of the human spirit and the future of the planet hanging in the balance, we have no choice but to embrace courage, imagination, and our deepest inner resources."

I meditated on the strength, sincerity and courage of Kucinich's convictions and message to us, wondering from where in his background and stated principles, make real and authenticate his commitment. It is I believe from his holistic worldview of an interconnected, interdependent World, a vision of Unity and Oneness, At-One-Ment, withIN and WithOUT. Kucinich From Spirit and Stardust says, "WE RealEyEs that what affects anyone, anywhere affects everyone, everywhere. As we help others to heal, we heal ourselves. Our Vision of interconnectedness resonates with new networks of World CitiZenS in nongovernmental organizations linking from numberless centers of energy, expresSinG the emergence of a new organic WhoLe, seeking within and across national lines."

So I think his calling for cessation of hostilities, and facing up to the resulting death, damage and destruction is calling to be honest and real and get off make-believe Disneyland carousel, most of the world sees, but the insulated nature of our culture-sphere inhibits, stunting necessary change and growth.

These realizations are not something Kucinich and his constituency are "extremely" are trying to foist upon us, this is a personal challenge as well as a "macro" civilizational challenge. Richard Tarnas again~~~

"I think it affects everybody, but the more informed and thoughtful a person is, the more aware they are of the reality of the spiritual crisis. We live in a world in which mainstream, conventional modern science has essentially voided the cosmos of all intrinsic meaning and purpose. There is no spiritual dimension to it from its point of view. The intellectual power of mainstream modern science has effectively defined what kind of cosmos we live in. And yet human beings aspire for spiritual significance in the life that they lead and in the world that they live in. It is only, I think, though going through a profound inner transformation, and also an intellectual transformation, that one can see beyond that crisis and come into a world of a different kind."

He adds~~~

"I think Thomas Kuhn quoted Max Planck about the idea that a paradigm in science does not shift simply because the evidence in favor of the new one begins to outweigh the old paradigm. It's not a rational, empirical shift. That is because there is so much investment -- psychological, unconscious, as well as economic -- in the old paradigm by individuals who have lived their whole lives within it. They can't go through that kind of gestalt switch. As Kuhn says, two people who are working within different paradigms are almost, in a sense, in different universes. If you have lived within one long enough and you are not graced with a kind of illumination which helps you break out of the old worldview, it is very difficult to make your way into it."

We who do choose to Be are midwives, through writing, art, music, action, dancing, speaking, poetry, info-sharing and caring, midwives in the pollinating and birthing of the Happy New World. One more Meme from Professor Tarnas~~~

"What will happen will very much depend on the consciousness that human beings in our society -- and particularly a certain core of our society -- bring to this moment.

There is no question that if we look around at the world today, we cannot avoid the fact that something big is dying. We are watching it and we are experiencing it. But the great challenge that all of us face as individuals is also being faced by our civilization. That is, can we go through that death at an inner level? Can we recognize the great spiritual, archetypal dimension to that death and go through it at that level? Or, will we be unconscious, blind to that deeper reality and act out self-destructively by making our world ecologically unlivable or killing each other in nationalistic competition, or whatever? Those are the choices."

~~~"New transnational web-based email and telecommunications systems transcend governments and carry within them the power of qualitative transformation of social and politica structures and a new sense of creative intelligence. If governments and their leaders, bound by hierarchy and patriarchy, wedded to military might for legitimacy, fail to grasp the implications of an emerging world consciousness for cooperation, for peace and for sustainability, they may become irrelevant. As citizen-activists the world over merge, they can become an irresistible force to create peace and protect the planet."
~~~"I have seen groups of people overcome incredible odds as they become aware they are participating in a cause beyond self and sense the movement of the inexorable which comes from unity. When you feel this principle at work, when you see spiritual principles form the basis of active citizenship, you are reminded once again of the merging of stardust and spirit. There is creativity. There is magic. There is alchemy."

~~~"Carved inside the pediment which sits atop the marble columns is a sentinel at the entrance to the United States House of Representatives. Standing resolutely inside this "Apotheosis of Democracy" is a woman, a shield by her left side, with her outstretched right arm protecting a child happily sitting at her feet. The child holds the lamp of knowledge under the protection of this patroness. This wondrous sculpture by Paul Wayland Bartlett, is entitled "Peace Protecting Genius." Not with nuclear arms, but with a loving maternal arm is the knowing child Genius shielded from harm. This is the promise of hope over fear. This is the promise of love which overcomes all. This is the promise of faith which overcomes doubt. This is the promise of light which overcomes darkness. This is the promise of peace which overcomes war.
Thank You.
This day is to celebrate our human potential to transform any condition, to change darkness into light, slavery into freedom, poverty into prosperity, war into peace, let us honor America's apostle of non-violence by truly rededicating ourselves to his work. Let us make the vision of Dr. King, that vision of liberty and harmony, a reality. Let us confirm our commitment to all civil rights and let us declare peace a civil right in a democracy, a human right in this world. Thank you."
how its destiny is being charted. That right derives from our very
Declaration of Independence, which claimed self-governance as a basic right.
Government does not just happen in Washington, DC. It is the result of a
process which takes place in thousands of cities, villages and townships. It
is also a process which also takes place in our hearts, which is brought to
life by our love of country, and our love of each other. It is your love
which enables me to carry those hopes and dreams forward. And I shall do so
courageously in the days ahead. Thank you."
The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government… The mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few to ride them.
– Thomas Jefferson
Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.
– Frederick Douglass
We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people …The wave of the future is not the conquest of the world by a single dogmatic creed but the liberation of the diverse energies of free nations and free men. … Mankind must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind.
--John F.Kennedy
The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.
Strategic Compromises and Burning Flames
A single flame, with patience, can light a million candles.
by Stephen Dinan
The debate among progressives these days revolves around choosing the right Democratic candidate to defeat Bush. There is a singular intensity and urgency about this quest, a sense that all that is good and beautiful in the world hangs in the balance. Many have come to the conclusion that their best hope is Howard Dean, even if they don¹t like everything about him. The logic goes that he's progressive enough and "palatable" for the supposedly vast tract of more conservative America that backs Bush, beats the war drum, and believes media hype. He¹s as big a stretch as we can hope for in today's climate. It is simple logic: strategic compromise in the service of defeating Bush. While I certainly understand the impulse behind those who back strategic compromise, I think it actually does more harm than good in the long term. Instead, I want to offer an alternative vision, one in which each of us dares to stand as a burning flame for that which we believe in, even if that might not seem strategic or popular at first. Before I look at what it means to be a burning flame, though, I want to point out some major problems with strategic compromise to defeat Bush.
1) Strategic compromise largely emerges from fear. At the root, there is often a sense that the only way one's real truth and real passion can impact the world is to be aligned with someone that is more powerful. In other words, there is a fundamental sense of inferiority or impotence underneath strategic compromise. That sense of impotence is conveyed to all those who listen.
2) Focusing on defeating Bush is a negative goal. Negative outcomes can certainly bring benefits in the long term but negative goals tend to burn people out and skew our passions. The enduring missions, the ones that can lead to major, sustainable change, are born out of a positive vision for what we want to create and how we want to live. When we focus our energy mostly on the negative  deposing Bush  we are not channeling enough of our life force into the groundwork that can build the world we want.
3) Strategic compromise does not change the image in the media mirror. Values-oriented studies have revealed a large and growing population in America labeled the Cultural Creatives who share a similar range of progressive values but are mostly unaware of each other or the power this population wields.
4) Strategic compromise often puts different parts of ourselves at odds with each other, which diminishes the amount of life energy we can utilize. When our heart battles our mind or our soul conflicts with our will, much of our creative magic is locked up rather than extended to the world via our mission. Strategic compromise leads people to burn out over time because of this lack of alignment.
5) Strategic compromise discourages the best people from entering politics because they do not see adequate popular support for their positions. Politics is left to ego- and power-driven members of the old order rather than exemplars of the emerging culture.
6) Strategic compromise reinforces the collective climate of fear that has lingered from 9-11. Fear rarely leads us to our noblest achievements and fear has colored American actions in a way that has squandered our good opinion in the world. Fear has led us to drift from the noble ideals at the heart of the American dream and to tolerate the removal of key freedoms by the Patriot Act, as well as pour vast amounts of creative potentia linto erecting barriers rather than erasing them. Fear has put America off mission.
When we speak from a place beyond fear, it assuages the fears of those who listen and begins to rekindle the dream of America. The mentality of strategic compromise contrasts sharply with the mindset that leads to "burning flames." A burning flame is someone whose body, emotions, heart, mind, and soul are lit up with a purpose, someone who is on fire with a calling. A burning flame is passionate and purposeful. A burning flame is love with a mission. The mindset of a burning flame is profoundly contagious because almost everyone hungers to be a burning flame. We want to be people of wisdom, depth, and passion that really make a difference with others. However,the vast majority feel they do not either have the talent, the time, or the boldness to be a burning flame. They look at friends and families and see mostly compromise, contraction, and dashed ideals. They carry wounds from the past and shroud their hopes for the future to avoid disappointment. This is a safe but cramped way to live. Being a burning flame, by contrast, is a bold statement. It is risky because it means putting our deepest dreams on the line and exposing them to ridicule, censure, and doubt. However, being a burning flame affects people in powerful ways because burning flames are creators of reality rather than victims of it. Burning flames are the source of companies and churches and non-profit foundations. They organize communities and movements. They put people in space and invent the future. Step-by-step, they help our species evolve by leading us beyond the known. The realm of politics is an important place to be a burning flame, a stand for the truth, love, and creative magic deep in our souls. Government affects every facet of our lives. It provides the compass setting for our entire country. It is a statement to the world of our national identity. When we take a stand for a candidate we love who conventional wisdom says is "not electable," and we do so with courage and conviction, we affect the people around us in profound ways. The first, and most important, is to show them that they need not choose strategic compromise out of fear. There is an option and they know someone who is willing to take that option. That in itself can be revolutionary.
The other thing is that the ripples begin. One by one, others are affected by the burning flame. Inspired. Challenged. Mobilized. Slowly but surely. As each person steps out of their own cocoon of fear, they touch others. The first candle, once lit, can ignite others others. The magic comes through multiplication. If one "burning flame" has an impact on perhaps 30 people and leads three others to dare to stand as burning flames themselves, the process begins to ripple outwards. In six months, one burning flame could, from the ripple effect, have deeply affected 20,000 people and sparked 729 other burning flames. In twelve months, that same power would touch 16 million people and spark 531,000 other burning flames. It all depends on our willingness to first unveil the spark in our own hearts and stand in it publicly and powerfully. So, I urge others to first find what is in your inmost heart. What is that unique gift that you have for the world that every part of your being can unify behind? I then encourage you to find a political leader who is as close to that as possible and get behind them. Powerfully. No matter whether they seem electable or not. Because this is your statement to the world about who you are and what you want to see in the world. This is how you identify yourself to your allies. This is your empowerment and your blessing.
For me, I have chosen to be a burning flame for Dennis Kucinich. He is the most noble, intelligent, compassionate, and visionary person that I have seen run for president. He is a brightly burning flame himself, seeing through the veils of today to a better tomorrow. He is courageous and willing to lay himself on the line, to stride boldly in a time of fear.He is the kind of leader who can take America beyond aggressive nationalism to truly global leadership.
