LOS ANGELES (July 28)— Shigeko Sasamori, a 71-year old grandmother, and survivor of Hiroshima sits in the front row of the audience, her eyes closed, tears stream down the sides of her face as she listens to legendary actress Ruby Dee narrate a new radio adaptation of John Hersey's *Hiroshima*, an account of the atomic bombing told from the perspective of six survivors.

*At exactly fifteen minutes past eight in the morning, on August 6, 1945, Japanese time, at the moment when the atomic bomb flashed above Hiroshima,* Dee introduces the play’s characters. *A 100,000 people were killed by the atomic bomb, and these six were among the survivors. They still wonder why they lived when so many others died.*
