A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. China, Russia, Spain, Netherlands, and Cuba Russia,

If you do not want to receive this weekly notice please reply with "remove" in the subject line.

Feel free to forward this.

Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (May 30) is up at the websitehttp://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:13) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org

There are several other streams that work better- http://www.freakradio.org Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PDST)

Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/

streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.

And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio

This week's show features stories from China Radio International, the Voice Of Russia, Spanish National Radio, Radio Netherlands, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From China- China and Russia have agreed on an oil pipeline to export Siberian oil to China. Russia refutes US objections to aid in developing a nuclear powerplant in Iran. Iran says the US is creating tension over terrorism accusations, in an attempt to force Iran to reject its Islamic values.

From Russia- A review of the US use of depleted uranium in Iraq- the British have not produced or used DU since the first Gulf War, and lawsuits by British soldiers with Gulf War Syndrome are underway now in England. The US senate has approved research into the development of tactical nuclear weapons.

From Spain- First a review of events in the Middle East on Tuesday. The US based “Committee To Protect Journalists” says that the murder of journalists by US troops in Bagdhad was not intentional, but could have been avoided- the family of a Spanish cameraman who was killed are pressing charges against 3 US soldiers.

From Netherlands- Following the inaguration of Argentina’s new President, Fidel Castro gave a 2 1/2 hour speech to tens of thousands of Argentine fans. His rhetoric was strongly anti-US, and this report speculates on how much of Latin America quietly supports Castro’s ideas.

From Cuba- A Viewpoint concerning the new president in Argentina, who opposes neo-liberal policies and will hold off foreign debt payments until hunger is eliminated in the country. Friends of the Earth has called on the US to stop using hunger in Africa as a marketing tool for genetically modified crops raised in the US. Amnesty International has charged that the so-called “War On Terror” has made the world more dangerous by curbing human rights, undermining international law, and shielding governments from scrutiny.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!

¡FurthuR! Dan Roberts

--The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naïve and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.

- H. L. Mencken
