by Andrew Kay Liberman Wednesday, Apr. 09, 2003 at 7:51 AM
teachins1@stopuswars.org 310-203-1542 958 Gayley Ave. #116, LA, CA 90024

Stop the War and the now fascist US society which fosters militarism.

Saturday's SF teach-in, this one at City Blend in the
Mission District, was a further success, with a
representative from SF Green Supervisor's office
speaking, Allyson Wier, from "If Only Americans Knew",
Meddle, from Direct Action, Jeff Grubler, from the
Ronald Reagan Home for the Criminally Insane, and
great music from Tom Ruderow and from Daniel Zwickel.
This stop the war teach-in was after the Oakland march
& mass rally, which was itself highlighted by the
speeches from Rep. Barbara Lee & Harry Belafonte.

Thank you to the Bay Area United Against the War (BAUAW), which has endorsed the work of Coffee House Teach-Ins.

Friday night, a spirited crowd was in attendance at
Cafe Macando, in the Mission District, for the 1st.
Coffee House Teach-In in the Bay Area. After a
presentation by Toni Mendicino, of Radical Women, by
Carole Seligman, of Socialist Viewpoint Magazine & a
founder of Bay Area United Against the War, and poetry
from Nellie Wong--a lively debate opened up under the
guidance of LA psychotherapist
Kathleen McTaggert as an x-marine and other supporters
of the war came with questions. Discussions went on
until 11 pm. Thanks to Maria Cristina for welcoming
Coffee House Teach-Ins to her coffee house, Cafe
Macando.

Thursday, at Cafe International, on Haight Street, in
San Francisco, will be the next stop the war teach-in,
at 7:30 pm. RSVP: 1-877-stopUSwars, toll free.
X-marine Jeff Patterson invited to speak, and
others--inlcuding a focus on making bigger parts of
San Francisco oil independent & car free through
direct actions.
