An adhoc coalition of groups is coming together next Thursday, Aug. 22 in front of Diane Feinstein's office in L.A. to protest her anti-Palestinian stance. In April of this year, Feinstein cosponsored S. 2194, the Arafat Accountability Act:

". . . Yasser Arafat has failed to . . . [therefore] Denial of Visas . . . Downgrading of PLO Representation in the United States . . . Seizure of Assets . . . The Secretary of State . . .shall identify and seize the assets of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority in the United States, and the personal assets in the United States of the PLO Chairman Yasseer Arafat . . . determination on whether acts of terrorism warrant the designation of the PLO or its constituent elements as terrorist organization . . ."

In September, 2000 she cosponsored S. 3007, theUnilateral Palestinian Statehood Disaproval Act of 2000:

"It should be the policy of the United States not to recognize (1) a unilaterally declared Palestinian state . . .the President and the Secretary of State should use all diplomatic means to work with the allies of the United States . . . to not extend recongition to a unilaterally declared Palestinian state . . . [The U.S. shall] oppose and vote against (1) the recognition of membership of a unilaterally declared Palestinian state in the United Nations . . ."

The demonstration against Feinstein's positions is being sponsored by a wide array of groups including the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee - LA/OC Chapter, the American Friends Service Committee - Pacific Southwest Region; Coaltion for World Peace; Council on American Islamic Relations - Southern California, Fellowship of Reconciliation - LA, Friends of Sabeel - LA, Los Angeles Jews for a Just Peace, Middle East Fellowship of Southern California, National Lawyers Guild, Pasadena Area Coaltion for a Just Palestinian-Israeli Peace, Pasadena Mennonite Church and Women in Black - LA.

The coaltion of groups will protest in front of Feinstein's office on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 4 -6 p.m. The office is located at 11111 Santa Monica Blvd. in West L.A.. More info can be found at info@pasadenajustpeace.org.
