The latest Shortwave Report (August 9) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:15) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired at 7pm PDST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you MIGHT be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/ (It hasn't worked recently)

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Spanish National Radio, Radio Deutsche Welle, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Netherlands- Columbia’s new President Uribe is facing intense challenges as national warfare expands. The stability of the country is tenuous and his pledge to finish off the rebels could finish off democracy as well.

From Spain- the Presidential inauguration in Columbia sets off terrorist attacks; US Treasury Sec O’Neill changes his approach to Argentina as his effigy is burned; Saudi Arabia says ties with the US are fine; Taiwan scraps war games and Tibetans become a minority in Tibet; then several stories about Iraq.

From Germany- first a press review from Tuesday, with European disapproval of US war plans being the main topic; the UN General Assembly passed a resolution of grave concern over Israel’s occupation of Palestinian cities; some Palestinians have serious problems with Israel’s peace proposal.

From Cuba- before the violence at the Columbian inauguration, fighting had escalated around the country; the new President of Bolivia returns to office- previously he had privatized oil, telecommunications, and electricity; US pressure to eradicate coca from Bolivia has resulted in serious human rights abuses.
