Making Anarchist Revolution Possible

by Arthur J. Miller

http://texts.anarchosyndicalism.org/possible.htm

"When the organized power of the people is greater than the organized

power of the ruling class then our revolution would take place through

a social general strike. That social general strike would be the

complete refusal, in industries, communities and in all means, of

cooperation with capitalism and the State, and of providing goods and

services to capitalism and the State, along with the organized

protection of our revolution. Capitalism and the State cannot exist

without our cooperation with the ruling class. We feed them, we provide

the services they need, our communities are controlled by our

cooperation with them, we are everywhere, even in the homes of the

ruling class. There is nowhere for them to run, we are everywhere,

there is nowhere to hide, we are everywhere. We will starve the ruling

class out of existence; let them eat their money and deeds of property."

The Origin and Ideals of the Modern School

by Francisco Ferrer Y Guardia

http://culture.anarchosyndicalism.org/modernschool.htm

"We can destroy whatever there is in the actual school that savours of

violence, all the artificial devices by which the children are

estranged from nature and life, the intellectual and moral discipline

which has been used to impose ready - made thoughts, all beliefs which

deprave and enervate the will. Without fear of injury we may place the

child in a proper and natural environment, in which it will find itself

in contact with all that it loves, and where vital impressions will be

substituted for the wearisome reading of books. If we do no more than

this, we shall have done much towards the emancipation of the child. "

The Barcelona Mass Rent Strike of 1931

by Tom Wetzel

http://texts.anarchosyndicalism.org/rent.htm

"By the early 1930s unemployment was increasing but rents were still

high, compounding the [housing] crisis. Activists in the CNT had been

debating since the late '20s how to break out of limited struggles with

individual employers and make the unions relevant to all social

problems affecting the working class. In January of 1931 Solidaridad

Obrera (Workers Solidarity -- a daily newspaper owned by the CNT of

Catalonia) published a series of articles calling for action around the

housing crisis."

Anarchy Against Capitalism and Socialism

by Chris Wilson

http://critics.anarchosyndicalism.org/against.htm

"Even socialist anarchists admit that the actions of the CNT were often

abusive and authoritarian, not the least of which was its leaders'

decision to submit to the direction of the state and Leninist forces to

"fight fascism". In various locations throughout the world, nations no

less free (and in certain respects, freer) than the U.S. have

successfully implemented mixed economies containing elements of both

market-based exchange and socialism without the use of death squads or

gulags. Needless to say, none of them abolished the role of capital or

the state. These failed attempts at stateless socialism are a direct

consequence of the innate hierarchy of large-scale organization

combined with a refusal to realize that power always corrupts, even

when delegated democratically. "

Rise like Lions after slumber

In unvanquishable number -

Shake your chains to earth like dew

Which in sleep had fallen on you -

Ye are many - they are few.
