issues of continuing concern in the post 911 era

Safety and Health issues around the World Trade Center
site with
Joel Shufro, Executive Director, New York Committee
for Occupational Safety & Health
And Dr. Ekaterina Malievskaia
One of the volunteers at the Medical Monitoring Unit
which treated mostly immigrant day laborers for occupational injuries from a van near the WTC site.
This mobile unit was a joint project sponsored by
the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems at
Queens College, the Committee for Occupational
Safety and Health and the Latin American Workers'
Project

The New Government Surveillance Powers post-911
David Sobel,
General Counsel, Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC)
· Internet communications including expansion
of “pen register”
& use of such tools as “Carnivore”
· Amendments to the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Act
· Secret delayed notification of physical
searches
· Increased sharing of information between law enforcement & intelligence agencies
