After years of assaults by IMF imposed "structural adjustment" and austerity cuts, Nigeria's people are fighting back in a rapidly growing wave of strikes that could become a general strike like those that have accompanied Argentina's uprising against neo-liberalism.
The government has been catering to trans-national corporate interests to the detriment of Nigerians. The IMF/WB bunch are no doubt behind the government's privatization and austerity programs that have caused great misery, runnaway price increases and escalating poverty.
But as in Argentina, Bolivia and a growing list of nations around the world, people in Nigeria are rising up against the effects of globalisation.
This shows that this is the time for the anti-globalisation movement to keep on fighting against the imperial greed of trans-national McCorporations! In solidarity with the people of Nigeria, Argentina , Bolivia and a long list of other nations, there should be a world-wide boycott of all products and services of trans-national McCorporations! We need to keep protesting against their meetings (WTO, IMF/WB, WEF, G-8,etc.) The G-8 summit is going to be in Canada this summer-let's hit them with massive protests!
You will also see that the Nigeria IMC is in great need of support-send whatever contribution you can. Their e-mails are posted on their site, linked below-please help them out if you can! And read how Nigerians are fighting neo-liberal globalisation!
