Neither Privatization nor Nationalization but Direct Democracy

by Aki ORR Sunday, Jan. 06, 2002 at 12:24 AM

Instead of a Privatized or Nationalized economy strive to establish a Direct Democray where ALL citizens decide policies of the State, and economy, ALL employees decide policies of their place of work, and ALL students & Staff decide policies of their site of education.

1.1.2002

Neither Privatization nor Nationalization, but Direct Democracy.

All over the world employees of factories, businesses, government departments, obey instructions,

often inefficient, sometimes harmful, occasionaly absurd, issued by superiors who are either blind,

or indifferent, to the consequences. These superiors obey orders issued by their superiors, for fear

of loosing their jobs.

Mindless obedience, practiced daily everywhere, wastes enormous resources.

Many are unemployed instead of all working shorter hours. A minority is overpaid while the majority

is underpaid. Vast natural resources are squandered with little, or token, consideration for future generations.

Must this go on for ever? Many think so.

Those fed up with government bosses have only one alternative: Privatization

Those fed up with private bosses have only one alternative: Nationalization

Most people detest both. The result ? The same mess goes on, getting worse.

So what remains? grumbling, grovelling, and putting up with living an eternally frustrating life ?

THERE IS A WAY OUT OF THIS MESS : DIRECT DEMOCRACY.

All those doing a job should deicde together what to do and how to do it.

Applying this at every level - in the home, at school, at work, in the State will solve many problems

caused by private, or government, bossing. It won't solve all problems, and will generate new ones,

but it will do away with much frustration, waste, and inequality. So what can one do ? Get together

with others to discuss direct democracy. Form a Committee for Direct Democracy (CDD) in your

neigbourhood, at work, at school, in your constituency. CDDs should meet regularly, discuss any

issue they like, make practical proposals to solve problems by applying Direct Democracy principles.

Link up with other CDDs to form a network of CDDs.

CDDs are NOT a political Party. They have no leaders.

Dont vote for DIRECT DEMOCRACY - practice it yourself, DIRECTLY.

The point is not only to accept direct democracy but to PRACTICE IT.
