SEX PISTOLS BACK TO SPOIL QUEEN'S PARTY?

by Mark Vallen - Art For A Change Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001 at 6:02 PM

That's right, the SEX PISTOLS might regroup. I dislike reunions as much as anyone else, but as long as "Sir" Paul McCartney is around to kiss the Queens behind, what's wrong with Rotten and company coming back to yell: "SHE AIN'T NO HUMAN BEING!"

Sex Pistols Could Spoil Queen's Party -- Again

LONDON (Reuters) - Twenty-five years after making their mark as the official scourge of royalty, the legendary British punk band the Sex Pistols may regroup to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee, a tour promoter said Tuesday. The gigs would take place on June 3, when Queen Elizabeth will celebrate 50 years on the throne.

"I can confirm I've been approached by a number of separate parties offering substantial sums of money for the Sex Pistols to regroup," said promoter John Giddings, who organized the group's last UK tour in 1996. He said the decision depends on whether band members can free up their schedules to perform on the Jubilee date.

The famously controversial band released their anti-royal album "God Save the Queen" in June 1977 at the same time as Her Majesty celebrated her Silver Jubilee. The album, whose front cover bore an illustration of the Queen with a safety pin through her nose, rocketed to No. 1 although banned from the airwaves (you can see that cover at: www.art-for-a-change.com/Punk/punka.htm

Despised by authorities for their anarchist theme, the band was arrested as they performed on a Thames riverboat on the day of the Queen's 25th anniversary celebration. Should they decide to regroup this summer with a Sid Vicious replacement, the granddaddies of punk would be playing to crowds who weren't alive when they first thrashed around on a London stage in 1976. "The good thing about the Pistols now is that they can really play," Giddings said.

[and now, the lyrics]

God Save the Queen

The Fascist Regime

They made you a moron

... potential H-Bomb

God Save the Queen

She ain't no Human Being

There is no future...

... in England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want!

Don't be told what you need!

There's no future, no future...

... no future for you!

God Save the Queen

... WE MEAN IT MAN

We "love our queen"

God Saves

God Save the Queen

'cos tourists are money

and our figure head

... is not what she seems

Oh God Save history

God save your mad parade

Oh Lord, God have mercy

all crimes are paid

When there's no future

how can there be sin

we're the flowers in the dustbin

we're the poison in your Human machine

we're the future, you're future

God Save the Queen

WE MEAN IT MAN

we "love our queen"

God Saves

God Save the Queen

WE MEAN IT MAN

THERE IS NO FUTURE

IN ENGLAND'S DREAMING

NO FUTURE, NO FUTURE

NO FUTURE FOR YOU

NO FUTURE, NO FUTURE

NO FUTURE FOR ME
