An Anti-Terrorism War, or Genocide of Innocent People (Tehran Times)

An Anti-Terrorism War, or Genocide of Innocent People

By Our Staff Writer

What is Washington really looking for? What are the objectives of the attacks?

It is now evident that the United States is not only after Bin Laden in its attacks on Afghanistan, for the State Department has announced that even if Bin Laden is killed, the attacks will not be stopped. Such statements and stances basically put the whole operation to question. Then one is absolutely justified to doubt if Bin Laden was the only culprit involved in the attacks. If this is the case, then we may be allowed to speculate about the U.S. future plans and its undercurrent objectives.

Some analysts argue that Zaher Khan has already been prepared to assume power in Afghanistan as soon as the Taleban have been ousted. Given Zaher Khan's old age, his grandson will then be placed as the king in Afghanistan.

However, the U.S. operations will not be limited to Afghanistan; Washington has larger plans to pressure its economic rivals, particularly in European Union. One of Washington's plans is to take the control of the Persian Gulf oil into its hands, for the fluctuations in the oil prices, particularly during the past two years, have demonstrated that the USA does not at present have the leverage it wants over the oil of the Persian Gulf.

In order to employ oil as a weapon, Washington is now determined to once again take the control of the Persian Gulf oil into its hands and use it against its European allies.

Under the circumstances, the Arab countries must be very careful. They must be keen about their independence and do not allow Washington to turn them into its abject followers.

Given the U.S. clear statement that it is not only after Bin Laden, the U.S. war is no more an anti-terrorism war. Therefore, opposition to the U.S. attacks is not at all tantamount to taking side with the terrorists, for the target of the U.S. attacks is not primarily terrorist groups but achievement and consolidation of its power and influence in the region. The U.S. war is based on selfish motives Which will ultimately lead to the genocide of the innocent Afghan people.

Almost all the Middle Eastern countries have borne the brunt of Israeli state-sponsored terrorism. They are ready to participate in a genuine war against terrorism, but not in the genocide of the innocent Afghan people. Hence, the Untied Nations must take the initiative and mobilize all the veritable forces to launch a real war against terrorism.
