Giant People's Puppets lead the Worker's March!
 mayday5.jpg, image/jpeg, 396x333
Up to three thousand or more people took part in a May Day protest that marched through L.A.'s Korea Town district to Macarthur Park, an area populated by poor Mexicano and Central American Immigrants. The crowd was lively, disciplined, and militant. Many Artists had worked to create beautiful signs in English, Spanish, and Korean. This photograph shows just two of the enormous Puppets that were carried by demonstrators. The Male Puppet in front has a clenched fist and carries a Hammer, it is followed by a Female Puppet in White. The march filled the street for many blocks, and almost every step of the way demonstrators handed out flyers to onlookers, many of whom joyfully joined the protest.
