Honolulu is hosting the 2001 annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Listed are events planned from 4-11 May. For more about the ADB, what we're doing, and housing info, take advantage of the contact information at the bottom of the list.

Friday, May 4 - Sunday May 6th

The Indigenous People's Forum on Cultural Rights

Sponsored by KAHEA, an alliance of cultural rights and environmental activists.

This event will feature cultural practitioners, and cultural rights activists from Hawaii and from international community. They will be exploring strategies to protect culture, land, and resources.

Monday, May 7th - Evening Event:

A teach-in on Globalization and the ADB by the International Forum on Globalization

This is a speaker's bureau of world renowned experts on globalization addressing the impacts on the environment, governments, Indigenous people, economies, etc. Five speakers from Asia and North America will be addressing the ADB and how globalization impacts local communities, natural resources and indigenous people. UH Manoa sponsored event: panel discussion in a debate format convening globalization experts, members of affected communities and ADB staff.
