Emergency Protest Against the Growing Threat of War
* Hands Off Syria and Iran!
* End the Drone Wars!
* We Need Jobs, Education and Healthcare, Not Endless War!

During the period from June 23 through July 1, there will be demonstrations, vigils and forums around the country to protest the growing threats of war. Already over 25 cities are planning demonstrations. Los Angeles Action: Where: Westwood Federal Building - 11,000 Wilshire Boulevard When: Saturday June 30th at 4 pm Contact: (323) 306-6240 Using the pretext that North Vietnamese patrol boats had fired on U.S. destroyers, President LB Johnson authorized the funding of a much wider war in Vietnam. Like the recent killing of tens of thousands in Libya due to the latest U.S./NATO war, the lives lost could have been avoided if the anti-war movement had been strong enough to dispel the lies and counter the thrust towards war. Last Friday, amidst growing tensions with Syria due to U.S.-supported Syrian \\"rebels,\\" a Turkish jet fighter (bought from the U.S.) just happened to violate Syrian airspace and was shot down by the Syrian military. Is this the Gulf of Tonkin incident, then used in Vietnam, again being played by the Pentagon to start a wider war beginning in Syria, while nearly 100 people per month are killed by U.S. drones in impoverished countries around the world. While austerity and cutbacks against basic social services are echoed from Washington to City Hall, no such demands are being made to limit this Administration\\'s aims for endless war. As Martin Luther King Jr said: "The bombs in Vietnam explode at home ... poverty, urban problems and social progress generally are ignored when the guns of war become a national obsession." Build the Movement Against War - Come out to say No to War and Poverty this Saturday!
