Trade negotiators from throughout the Pacific Rim are gathering in southern California to negotiate the Trans-Pacific Free Trade Agreement, which includes nine countries from the U.S. to Vietnam. Out of the public eye, trade ministers and corporate lobbyists (over 600 of whom have certified "corporate adviser" status) are pressing for a NAFTA-style deal that encourages offshoring, expands downward corporate pressure on labor and environmental standards, raises drug prices, and bans "Make it in America," among other problems.

Will this become a "NAFTA of the Pacific?"

If Corporate America has their way and keeps theses negotiations behind closed doors, it almost certainly will.

That's why the California Fair Trade Coalition, along with the AFL-CIO, Citizens Trade Campaign, Friends of the Earth, Public Citizen, Health Gap, Moana Nui and local members of the labor, environmental, Latino, and Asian-Pacific Island communities are coming together for a series of events, having finished our info session on the TPFTA (done!), it's time to rally! Join us at the posh Sofitel Luxury Suites in Beverly Hills and the campus of UCSD, both sites of the negotiations as we demand a "Fair Deal or No Deal!"

RALLY: HELP STOP A "NAFTA OF THE PACIFIC!"

Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 12 noon

Please make plans to join us for any or all of these events, and be sure to share with interested activists in Southern California!
