Three-Day Outdoor Eco-Fest on Santa Monica Beachfront

To Educate, Entertain, and Enlighten Thousands - October 7- 9, 2011

September 30, 2011 ? Santa Monica, CA ? The New World F.E.S.T (Festival of Eco-Friendly Science and Technology), a large-scale, outdoor eco-festival and exposition that will take place October 7 - 9, 2011, just steps from the sand in Santa Monica, CA, has announced the addition of Robots, Chefs, Insects, Mushrooms, and Magic Clay.

In addition to functional robots, the F.E.S.T will feature an early Energizer Bunny and Johnny Five from film fame courtesy of maverick inventor and robotics pioneer Eric Allard. Chefs performing healthy food demos include master raw chef and author Brian Au, Sophie Uliano, the bestselling author of ?Gorgeously Green,? Mario Librandi, co-founder of Vegan Mario?s, and Gen Anderson, the star of ION television?s ?Gen?s Guiltless Gourmet.? For fans of arthropods, the folks at Arbico Organics will be showcasing an array of beneficial insects, and F.E.S.T-goers of all ages will learn about their truly important roles in the natural ecosystem. For those who fancy fungus, Back to the Roots is a NorCal company founded by Berkeley students, which will feature its grow-at-home mushroom kit, using soil made from used discarded coffee grounds. And for the true scientist in us all, there is California Earth Minerals and their amazing calcium montmorillonite, a natural clay mined from beneath the Earth?s surface, where it has spent millions of years morphing into what many now call a miracle compound for body detoxification and overall wellness.

The New World F.E.S.T is a celebration of eco-friendliness and forward-thinking science. Its mission is to present educational content in a desirable beachfront setting and entertaining manner, so that important messages about ?a smart future? and ?the greening of the planet? are best retained. (www.theneworldfest.com) It features 150 exhibitors and 6 performance stages which offer live music, innovative demonstrations, guest speakers, panel discussions, natural cooking workshops, yoga classes, family entertainment, plus an eco-theater screening environmentally-focused films and documentaries, a ?spiritual oasis? with health and wellness products/techniques, futuristic technology ranging from virtual reality to the aforementioned robots, and a remarkable Sustainable Art exhibition with 30 artists showcasing their creative use of repurposed and recycled objects, including many live installations.

Confirmed speakers include Andy Lipkis, the Founder and President of TreePeople; renowned nature photographer Robert Glenn Ketchum; leading expert on hiking and trails John McKinney (aka ?The Trailmaster?); and actor, environmentalist, and ?world?s greenest celeb? Ed Begley, Jr.

Confirmed films being screened include Oscar?-winner ?The Cove?, Sundance-winner ?Fuel,? plus ?Dirt! The Movie,? ?Vanishing of the Bees,? and ?Save the Farm,? all featuring live commentary by filmmakers involved in the original productions.

Confirmed artists being showcased include Clare Graham, Cynthia Minet, Dave Lovejoy and Franklin Londin, a two time Oscar?-winning effects animator for ?Titanic? and ?Spiderman 2.?

Musical performances include Naked Rhythm, The Luminaries, Radius Band, Random Ninjas, Hollywood U-2, special guest Lonnie Marshall (Weapon of Choice, Fishbone) who will showcase his latest project The Lil? Big Ups, a unique band comprised of children playing instruments formed from ordinary household trash, and The Cardona Youth Musical Ensemble ? amazingly talented children who play ?recycled bottles? and are flying to The F.E.S.T from their native Philippines.

Innovative exhibitors showcasing their wares at The F.E.S.T include one making paper from Sri Lankan elephant dung, another making jewelry from disarmed and recycled nuclear weapons, and just about everything green from the cradle (Blessed Bums eco-diapers)? to the grave (Final Footprint eco-caskets).

The New World F.E.S.T is being held at Santa Monica Beach Parking Lot 5-South ? 2600 Barnard Way, South of the Santa Monica Pier at the intersection of Ocean Park Blvd. and the beach. Dates and hours for the event are Friday, October 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday October 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adult admission is ; children 14 and under are , seniors 60 and over are , and infants and toddlers are free. Admission includes all music, speakers, films, seminars, stage activities and access to all exhibits.
