DESCRIPTION:
In The Bardo of Letting Go, students will learn how to die a good death and how to help others die. On a practical level, they will consider the ramifications of various choices regarding death, such as suicide, euthanasia and organ donation. The class also explores meditations and other esoteric practices, such as dream and sleep yoga, that prepare us for letting go. Holecek says that with preparation, people can transcend death, turning the greatest obstacle into the greatest opportunity?to attain enlightenment.

Andrew Holecek, DDS, has founded The Forum for Living and Dying, a venue for the exploration of death, dying and rebirth and teaches at Shambhala Centers around the world. As cofounder of a charity that provides health care to children in India and Nepal, he spends several months a year in Asia. These travels, which began in 1995, have allowed him to study the bardos directly with some of the greatest masters in Tibetan Buddhism. Andrew writes a column on death and dying for Bodhi Magazine

The Los Angeles Shambhala Meditation Center (http://la.shambhala.org) offers practice and study. It is part of Shambhala International, a community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by the Vidyadhara Ch?gyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and now led by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
