DESCRIPTION:
Don?t let them take our students, our

schools, our jobs!

On Tuesday, March 15, for the second year in a

row, the School Board will make the final

decision on whether to give away our schools

to outsiders OR to respect the voice of parents,

staff, and students.

In the LAUSD advisory votes, parents, students,

and staff again overwhelmingly chose the

teacher-developed proposals. On March 15,

UTLA will demand that the District respect

these votes.

Up to 250 schools districtwide could face the

same threat of takeover in coming years. Let?s

send a message NOW that we will not let our

schools be given away.

Besides the harm the giveaways will do to

student learning, the loss of schools could

ultimately mean the loss of salary, jobs, health

care, and retirement benefits for all of us.

For latest information, go to: www.utla.net

ACTION 1: PACK THE BOARD

Off-track, retired, and adult ed teachers

who are willing to come early in the morning to

pack the board meeting should call Christopher

Arellano at (213) 368-6253 or email him at

carellano@utla.net.

ACTION 2: PRESS CONFERENCE

UTLA will be holding a press conference at

LAUSD headquarters (333 S. Beaudry Ave) to

call attention to the disruption to school sites

that would be caused by the giveway of schools

to outsiders.

ACTION 3: GATHER AFTER SCHOOL

Concerned UTLA members are urged to come

to LAUSD headquarters to support the UTLA

members and local families who are fighting to

keep their schools.
