Film Screening

QUIEN DIJO MIEDO (NOBODY IS AFRAID)

A new documentary about the coup in Honduras

Wednesday, October 13, 7 pm

137 N Virgil Ave. #201, Los Angeles

(5 min. from Vermont & Beverly Metro stop)

Join the ANSWER Coalition for a rare screening of "Nobody is Afraid" (Katia Lara), a brand new film about about the struggle of the Honduran people against the coup that ousted their democratically elected president, Manuel Zelaya.

In the spirit of "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (2002)," this eye-opening new documentary film shows the world the truth about the right-wing military coup in Honduras and the people's movement that sprung up in response, which is still fighting in the streets to this day.

"The film follows René, a Honduran amateur actor who appeared on television spots promoting the referendum on convening the National Constituent Assembly in Honduras. On June 28th, 2009, instead of a referendum, there was a brutal coup d’état: the army abducted President Manuel Zelaya and had him flown abroad. Along with thousands of other Hondurans, René joined the National Resistance Front against the Coup d’ État. An unprecedented Honduras arises: a people who resist despite media bias, violence and death, and take to the streets to stand up for their rights. This is their story. (2006, 60 min, Spanish w/ English subtitles)."
