An Evening of Music, Poetry and Conversation

Free!

With Brother Wayne Kramer of the Mighty MC5, Andrea Scarpino, Hyla Menuhin Douglas and Friends and special guests.

Hyla Menuhin Douglas

hails from a diverse and musical background on both sides of her family, but she has her own expressive style of music and poetry. Being a poet she always felt drawn to songs with great lyrics with a solid blues influence. In her work as a poet and musician she adds an insightful perspective from within and without the jaded and disillusioned society in which we live.

Wayne Kramer

Guitarist, singer, and songwriter is a co-founder of the Detroit rock group Motor City 5 aka MC5, a group known for their powerful live performances and commitment to progressive social change. Wayne recently completed work on the score for the ITVS/PBS documentary "The Narcotics Farm" about America?s decades-long failed drug war, as well as the accompanying soundtrack album entitled "Lexington". Rolling Stone Magazine recognizes Kramer as one of the top 100 guitarists of all time.

Andrea Scarpino

Is the author of the chapbook The Grove Behind (Finishing Line Press). She received an MFA in Creative Writing from Ohio State University, has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and widely published in both print and online journals. A longtime activist, she has worked for anti-war movements, feminist campaigns and environmental organizations. She currently is the West Coast Correspondent for the blog Planet of the Blind.
