DESCRIPTION:
Green Party of Orange County

General Meeting

Sunday, December 7th, 2008 @ 2:00 PM

December's GPOC meeting topic will cover the importance

of housing in these uncertain times, and will focus on the

Green Party's Key Value of Social Justice. "Radical

Housing for Radical Times" will concentrate on novel

approaches to help reach the goal of affordable, stable,

quality housing for all.

Larry Roberts, a.k.a IrvineRenter, a prominent housing

blogger, has driven the popular Irvine Housing Web

site since 2007 www.irvinehousingblog.com.

Author of "The Great Housing Bubble: Why Did House

Prices Fall?", available through Amazon.com, Roberts

correctly forsaw the big housing bubble early in the

game, and tried to warn as many people as possible.

While some consider him a hero for saving people

hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost home equity,

others consider Larry Roberts a villain, cheering from

the rental cheap seats as home owners go bankrupt.

Either way, this housing guru, land planner and civil

engineer will discuss how individuals, communities and

public agencies can ensure future housing meltdowns

don't occur, and how we can more carefully provide

equal housing opportunities for all.

Dave Levy, a valued return Green Party visitor from

Orange County Fair Housing Council, will speak

about public and private ways to protect the quality

of life in Orange County by ensuring equal access to

housing opportunities, an important way to foster

diversity and preserve dignity and human rights.

Looking ahead to 2009, please plan to be at February's

Green Party General Meeting, where a County Assembly

will be held to formally elect new members to fill vacant

county council seats and to consider bylaws and other

proposals. If you've enjoyed our General Meetings,

feel an unmet interest to improve the quality of our life

in OC, and have unusual skills you'd like to contribute,

THE GREEN PARTY OF ORANGE COUNTY

NEEDS YOU! One person's dedication, passion

and talent can make a big difference on the planet.

We call on each of you to consider becoming an

elected Green Party of Orange County Councilmember.

Stay tuned!
