DESCRIPTION:
See the new documentary film "An Unbroken Agony: Haiti, From Revolution to the Kidnapping of a President, featuring author Randall Robinson." Learn behind the scenes details of the 2004 US backed coup against President Aristide, the first democratically elected President of Haiti who won in 1990 with 67% of the vote, in 2000 with 91.8% of the vote. Also learn what happened behind the scenes in the Central African Republic where President Aristide was taken after his kidnapping. What role did Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the government of Jamaica and others play in getting President Aristide back into the Caribbean Region, and what role did Condoleeza Rice play in banning him from the region? And, get an update on the situation on the ground in Haiti, on the growing international movement calling for the safe return of Haitian human rights activist Lovinsky Pierre Antoine. Randall Robinson is the author of "The Debt" and former head of TransAfrica Forum. This event is a fundraiser for activists from Haiti and elsewhere in the Caribbean Region for travel and organizing work. Everyone welcome! Wheelchair accessible, suggested donation -, no one turned away. Coordinated by Women of Color in the Global Womens Strike and Global Womens Strike/LA, co-sponsored by Haiti Action.
