Don’t worry, you won’t need a paddle or boat on this tour of Eagle Rock. Just saddle up on your bicycle and join C.I.C.L.E.’s Urban Expeditions at 5pm on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Eagle Rock Park. Urban legend, historical documentation and stories from Eagle Rock old timers create the framework of this bicycle ride that will reveal where springs, creeks, and seeps once existed. Along the tour, riders will get a crash course in “streamseeking”—looking for clues in the contemporary landscape that point to where water once flowed, and learn more about the thriving community of Eagle Rock. The League Certified Bicycle Instructors of C.I.C.L.E. will partner with expert local guides to highlight what few others know about the area.

This ride is a recreational social event open to all skill levels. The ride will begin at the Eagle Rock Park at N. Figueroa St. and wind through old river and stream beds. The pace of the ride is relaxed and easy, and beginning bicyclists should feel free to join the ride. The ride is lead by experienced cyclists. The ride will end back at Eagle Rock Park. Riders are reminded to bring water and have their bikes inspected for safety.

Where: Eagle Rock Park on N. Figueroa St. (aka Scholl Canyon Rd) just north of the 134 freeway. (MAP) tinyurl.com…
