Campaign for Dignity and Survival:

Stop the Genocide of our Indigenous People\\'s

Saturday, Feb 3, 2007

at the Space Ark Gallery

106 S. 58th st. Los Angeles, CA 90042

Beginning at 6:00 pm

The Cucap?, an Indigenous people of Mexicali, have been denied fishing permits, even though they have been fishing in their valley for over 9,000 years; indeed, even before this area was considered Mexico.

Fishing is part of their ancestral traditions and is their only form of support. On the other hand, commercial fisherman have no problems obtaining fishing permits.

During the upcoming fishing season, which runs from February to May, the Sixth Delegation of the EZLN, along with adherents of ?The Other Campaign? will set up camp in the Mexicali dessert community of the Mayor Cucapa, and will join the local community in exercizing thier rights to fish in a peaceful, civil disobedient campaign for social change and justice.

Understanding that adherents and supporters will be traveling from all over the world to jointhis camp of resistance to support the Cucapa struggle, La Otra en el Otro Lado, a collective of adherents from San Diego, Orange County, Riverside, Los Angeles, Oxnard, Santa Barbara and Watsonville have committed to provide resources to help sustain the camp.

HOW YOU CAN HELP PUT A STOP TO THIS INJUSTICE!

How the campaign came to be In June of 2005, the Ejercito Zapatista de Liberaci?n Nacional, EZLN, anounced the Sixth Declaration of the La Candon Jungle and calle for ?The Other Campaign?, a process to which all Mexicans and Chicanos living in Mexico and on this side of the US/Mexico border were asked to join.

From January through November of 2006, ?Delegate Zero? commenced a national tour visiting the four corners of Mexico during which he met with Mexicans and Chicanos.

This to bring to the forefront awareness of social struggles for justice throughout Mexico and the Chicano/Mexican communities, so that we, the adherents, can come together and as human beings struggle for social change through peaceful means.

The second facet of the Other Campaign will begin at the end of February in the Mayor Cucapa community, about an hour in the outskirts of Mexicali, where the Cucapa live.

The EZLN Commission arrives at El Mayor Cucapa in the first week of March.
