Hollywood, CA - A public "Oscar for Peace" symbolic award ceremony and antiwar vigil will take place at 12:00 noon on Academy Awards Day, Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the northwest corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street and will feature the public display of an eight-foot tall "Peace Oscar Award" - an artist's rendering of the universally recognized V-shaped hand peace symbol.

The "Peace Oscar Award" is meant as a symbolic political statement opposing the U.S. planned war on Iraq while supporting the United Nations' efforts to further extend weapons inspections to achieve Iraqi disarmament compliance.

Following the award ceremony and antiwar vigil, the large "Peace Oscar" will be shipped via Federal Express to the United Nations in New York City c/o U. N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

The award ceremony and antiwar vigil are being sponsored by the Los Angeles Alliance for Survival peace group and the Orange County Peace Coalition. For further information call (310)399-1000, or (714)508-8103 or email ps4erth@yahoo.com
