Veterans Memorial Monument to Be Unveiled at the 6th JFAV Annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2006

Historic Filipinotown,Los Angeles-- ??Family Reunification and Veterans Equity, Now!

The Historic Filipinotown is all set for the 6th JFAV Veterans Day Parade and other activities. The 6th JFAV Veterans Day Organizing Committee and the Steering Committee is proud to announce hat the 6th Annual Veterans Day Parade and Community Health Fair I Historic Filipino town in Los Angeles will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2005 in Historic Filipinotown from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Unveiling of the World War II Memorial for Film WWII Veterans

The annual community event will start with the unveiling of the Filipino World War II Memorial Monument at the Lake Street Park 227 N. Lake St. at 9:00 in the morning. The memorial monument is a tribute of the City of Los Angeles to honor the contribution of Filipino Word War II veterans during the Second World War to the war efforts of the United States. The memorial is a project of City Council President Eric Garcetti, District 13council member

After the unveiling ceremonies, from Lake St.Park. The parade will start at 10:30 am with different Filipino veterans, community, youth and students organizations led by the JFAV as the parade vanguard.

Invited guests are Congressman Xavier Becerra and Hilda Solis,

Senator Gil Cedillo, Assemblyperson Jackie Goldberg. Fabian Nunez, Consul Helen Barber of the Philippine Consulate and Philippine Veterans Affairs MG Delfin Lorenzana. VA Claims Department Alberto Alpasan and Atty, Roman Mosqueda..

The parade /march will end at FACLA. Where a cultural program and a community fair will be held around 1:00 PM after the parade. Different health providers will give free services to the community while entertainment and cultural numbers will regale the public.

Family Reunification and Full Rights for All Immigrants

The theme of this year?s celebration is ?Family Reunification and Equity and Justice for Filipino World War II Veterans?. The community support for the approval of the comprehensive immigration bill that gives special immigrant status for Filipino veterans was not approved by the U.S. Congress. Hence, the need to advocate and struggle for family reunification not only for the veterans but also for the whole community.

Organizations that are set to participate in the annual event are the Parish Generation Choir, the Society of Guerillas and Scouts, the Kababayan Alliance (KABA), Golden Agers of Los Angeles (GALA), UCLA SPACE, UC Riverside Katipunan, Danza Azteca Cuahtemoc, UCI Alyansa ng mga Kababayan, San Fernando Veterans, Carson Veterans, Veterans Forum of Los Angeles, Veterans Federation (VFP)-Long Beach, San Diego COPAO, Andres Bonifaco Samahan SDSU, GEPENC District 5, Cerritos College, Loyola Marymount University, University of Southern California Troy Phil, PREP, PTSP, Pasadena Community College Tropa, Silverlake Adult Day Health Care, Pilipinos for Community Health, Santa Monica College. Pilipino American Proffesionals Association. SEI-United Health Care Workers-West, Circulo Pampangueno of california-USA.

JFAV Calls for Volunteers and Support

Organizations and Individuals who are interested to volunteer or to join the parade and the community health fair and its standing committee for finance, outreach, program and volunteers can contact the Events Organizing Committee JFAV is also welcome donations both financial and materials like food donations, water and others for the parade and health fair.

Regular JFAV meetings for community and veterans organizations are every Tuesday, 2;00 PM at FACLA 1740 W. Temple St, Los Angeles and the Steering Committee meetings every Wednesday nights at 7;00 PM at the People?s CORE office at 1610 Beverly Blvd. Suite No. 2, Los Angeles, CA.
