Counter-histories with BRUCE BEGOUT and JEFF BIGGERS BRUCE BEGOUT is a philosopher and author of several books on America and the standardization of our existence, among them a philosophical essay on Las Vegas, Zeropolis: The Experience of Las Vegas ( Reaktion Books). He is currently working on a book about Los Angeles. JEFF BIGGERS is winner of the American Book Award and Lowell Thomas Award for Travel Journalism. He is author of In the Sierra Madre: A Travel Memoir, based on a one-year sojourn in a Raramuri (Tarahumara) village in Mexico's Copper Canyon, investigating the likes of Antonin Artaud, B. Traven, Eisenstein, Geronimo, and Pancho Villa. His previous work is The United States of Appalachia: How Southern Mountaineers Brought Independence, Culture and Enlightenment to America , highlighting figures such as Nina Simone, the folklife centers that birthed the civil rights movement, the poet Don West, and more.
