jferrarigallery9.9.06.jpglnkiy6.jpg, image/jpeg, 550x434 jFerrari Gallery, one of the hottest new art galleries in the LA art scene, brings together five sizzling contemporary artists for OUT ON THE PORCH. This exhibition will include work by Andy Anh Ha, Susan Berkowitz, William Conklin, Sophia Louisa and Julie Rasmussen and will run from September 9, 2006 through October 6, 2006. A reception will take place on Saturday, September 30th from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.

About the artists:

Andy Anh Ha uses a variation of styles, techniques and mediums as he focuses on his current series of the lotus flower. With a BFA in Fine Arts, Anh Ha shares his understanding of the lotus flower's creative power and purity amid adverse surroundings. He explains, ?As the lotus blossoms in muddy swamps, it maintains its integrity and beauty.? Each of Anh Ha's works has its own powerful message, simple yet strong.

Susan Berkowitz's artistic process focuses on hand built assemblages using alternative photography methods. With a MFA in photography, Berkowitz exercises her creative talents with the use of dry Polaroid transfers, Polaroid emulsion lift off transfers, and/or gel transfers to create images that are hauntingly beautiful.

William Conklin's stunning figurative abstract works tell a story. His most recent works are acrylics on large canvases. ?A piece can teach as well as titillate. Control. Ego. Beauty. Camp. Ugliness. Passion. I am not afraid of these things. I personify them, as does my work,? stated Conklin. Many images can be found within one image, taking the viewer to deeper levels of thought.

Having studied dance most of her life, Sophia Louisa is a self-taught painter who applies the same fluidity of movement to her work. ?Life is movement, as is thought and feeling. It is these abstract concepts I express through my work,? stated Sophia.

Julie Rasmussen's choice of color and the subtle design of her abstract work bring life to any wall, anywhere. Fueled by the energy of the city, her work converts chaos into peaceful visions that have been described by many as mesmerizing. Most known for her acrylic work on canvas, she has recently gotten much notice for her mixed media pieces.

The J. Ferrari Gallery, established in June 2006, seeks to bring varied forms of art to the Los Angeles community and to promote both existing and new artists. The Gallery is located at 3015 Glendale Blvd., Atwater Village, CA 90039. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm or by appointment.
