FREEDOM NOW FOR MUMIA ABU-JAMAL!

Abolish the Racist Death Penalty!

Mumia Abu-Jamal has been on death row for 24 years, falsely convicted of killing Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. A prize-winning journalist, former Black Panther Party spokesman, supporter of the MOVE organization and defiant opponent of racist state terror, Mumia is the victim of a racist, politically motivated frame-up.

Mumia is an innocent man: courts have suppressed the sworn confession of Arnold Beverly that he, not Mumia, shot and killed Daniel Faulkner. The forces of the capitalist state have long been determined to carry out Mumia’s legal lynching as a warning to those who challenge racist cop repression, to fighters against U.S. imperialist depredations, to workers who stand up for their rights. Mumia’s case is what the death penalty is all about—a legacy of chattel slavery and the ultimate weapon in the government’s arsenal of repression aimed at the working class and oppressed.

The injustice done to Mumia was the working of the entire “justice” system whose purpose is to repress the working class, minorities and the poor on behalf of the capitalist exploiters. Black oppression is the bedrock of U.S. capitalism, a system that can only be destroyed through socialist revolution.

The fight to free Mumia is at a critical juncture: the court is expected to rule in a matter of months whether he will live, die or have further legal proceedings. The fight for Mumia's freedom, undertaken on the basis of mobilizing the social power of the working class, would be a giant step forward in defense of workers and the oppressed against the depraved and vicious rulers of this country. The Spartacus Youth Club urges youth to join in the struggle to free Mumia.

Come learn more about what you can do. We will be showing the Partisan Defense Committee (www.partisandefense.org) video “From Death Row, This is Mumia Abu-Jamal,” and the video of Arnold Beverly confessing to the murder of Officer Faulkner.
