Nurses Vs. Arnold Set for Simultaneous Premieres in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Bay Area on August 24

New Robert Greenwald-Produced Film Documents Arnold Schwarzenegger?s Struggle with California Nurses--and How it Launched a Movement to Clean Up Corruption in Politics

The California Nurses Association and award-winning producer Robert Greenwald will premier Nurses Vs. Arnold: Terminating Political Corruption, a film documenting the historical struggle the California Nurses Association engaged in with Arnold Schwarzenegger over a patient-safety law.

This struggle is widely credited with sparking Schwarzenegger?s fall in approval ratings from near 70% to 35% over a few months?and inspired the nurses to place Proposition 89 on the November ballot, which will reduce the influence of special-interest donors over politics and clean up the corruption endemic to California politics.

The film will premiere simultaneously in three historic theaters, and will serve as the basis of an massive grassroots organizing campaign around the state that will bring thousands of activists together in hundreds of house parties and other venues to fight for the passage of Prop. 89, and will also be distributed to activists online.

What: Premiere of Nurses Vs. Arnold

When: Thursday, July 24, 7:00 p.m.

Where: -Los Angeles

The Music Box Theater, 6126 Hollywood Boulevard

-Sacramento

The Crest Theater, 1013 K Street

-Oakland

CNA has sponsored Prop. 89 as an antidote to the current corrupt campaign finance system. Based on election laws already succeeding in Arizona, Maine, and Connecticut, Prop. 89, the California Clean Money and Fair Elections Act, sets tougher limits on contributions from corporations, unions and private individuals and establishes provides public financing for candidates who reject private money. It also closes some current campaign finance loopholes and strives to reduce the influence of professional lobbyists. It contains tough penalties for candidates who break the law, including jail time and removal from office.
