Happy new year, everyone!
We deeply thank all KIWA supporters - organizations and individuals - who have been so committed to justice for Assi workers -- especially now, in our most difficult moment, as workers continue to fight for reinstatement going on 6 months.
As we enter the new year we are hopeful yet cautious: five months of daily pickets and major actions, as well as the threat of a multi-million dollar discrimination lawsuit, have brought Assi attorneys to the table, with a meeting scheduled for next week. In the meantime, groups continue to lay the groundwork for a national campaign against Rhee Brothers, our attorney prepares to file the discrimination lawsuit, and workers maintain the picket line in rain or shine. As community groups, we need to find more ways of supporting the workers and escalate boycott actions to prepare for the lunar new year shopping season.
