East LA College Immigration Forum

Thursday March 30, 2006 @ 7:00pm

In the Student Center

East LA College is on Cesar Chavez & Atlantic in Monterrey Park

Speakers include:

Nativo Lopez - Head of Hermandad Mexicana and the Mexican American Political Association, Nativo Lopez has a long history in the Chicano movement. With most of his base in Orange County, Nativo Lopez is currently the organizer for the April 1st rally at Costa Mesa. He is also a supporter of the Million Votes for Peace Campaign.

Coyotl Tezcatlipoca - A grassroots student organizer against the racist Costa Mesa city council, Coyolt has been at the forefront of his city's politics even before he was forcefully ejected from the city council's meeting on false charges. Coyolt now organizes protests on a city councilman's restaurant & pub as well as a boycott on Costa Mesan businesses.

Justin Chacon - Professor at San Diego City College, Justin Chacon is renowned within the ISO for well written essays of immigration and its ties to socialism as well as explaining the root causes in the scapegoating of undocumented workers by the right wing in this country.

Rufina Juarez - Organizer for the South Central Farmers, Rufina has helped save the farmers time and time again from forceful eviction. Winning days, weeks, and months though both legal channels and social unrest, she, along with fellow organizers, has given a boost not only to the 350 families in the farms, but to the Mexican/Latino/migrant movement.
