Bike Winter event

meet at 11AM ride at 12 noon

Come out to protest the "US wars by terrorism."

Make thee connection that your choice of transportation is either part of the problem or the solution. You probadly realize that hydrocarbons is the chief reasons for these U.S. lead wars.

Stop being constricted to a closed off part of downtown on the weekend

or in front of the Westwood Federal Building as car whiz by you.

Come to the streets on bicycles

Be seen with your signs of protest attached to your bike or your body.

Don't stand in one place, ride around the city so all can see.

This ride will have some slight uphill runs and we will be riding amongst heavy traffic.

We will ride in areas with much street (car) and sidewalk (pedestrian) traffic.

We will ride at slower speeds....no one left behind.

We will try to obey all traffic signals and rules, (we want to be seen, so stopping at red lights and traffics stop signs will just increase our visibility).

Ride will be about 10 miles long, and about an hour and half in time length

Make a sign to attach to your bike. Be creative...light wood (such as bamboo) or

plastic PVC tubing for the post, with signs that are forgiving to the wind, (such as sheet tied on as flags) work great. Zip ties to the frame or rack to secure it. Design it so you can break your sign down easily( if you need to use public transportation with your bicycle). (These are suggestions, do whatever you thinks will work best)

Check bike over, bring a extra tube (just in case). When riding always bring some water or something to hydrate you. Helmet use is a personnel choice, but suggested.

Bring joy and good spirits.
